My paintings are about the experience of places and the experience of painting and creating images.
The landscape and coastline of North East Scotland will always be visited by me for inspiration.
I like drawing and painting outside and enjoy the speed of decision making which often leads to surprising and highly energetic results.
I try to keep this energy in the studio although some complex subjects need a more considered approach which is difficult to practice outside.
Aberdeen is my local city and although born here I have only recently considered it as a visual source.
I enjoy the contrast of natural and man made environments and have used images from Spain and other countries as a source for my paintings.
